Black Friday and Nate's Birthday

These two go hand in hand this year.  Nate's birthday happened to fall on black friday and boy was he lucky.  He really needed certain tools and there was just some amazing deals that we couldn't pass up.  (The tools were really for me though so that he could do projects around the house that I have been wanting done) So this year, I said I would do it and I did.  I went black friday shopping.  It was really simple for me actually.  I was in Show Low so there wasn't many store options and Nate's presents took up most of my budget so it wasn't too bad.  I went to Wal-Mart at 10:30 and scoped out the bins so I could get what I wanted and then stood by the one that I wanted the most so I could grab that first and then got everything else after that.  The Pratt's youngest son's Trevor and Jeremiah wanted to come with me so I wasn't alone and I had help carrying stuff.  (Loved it)  We got what we wanted and looked at maybe one or two of the crazy spots and then left.  We were out of there by 12:25 and home before anybody else even went to bed.  Then I had to get up again and be gone at 4:30 so I could go to Lowe's.  That's where the two most favorite presents for Nate were.  I got there and after much deliberation, got what I wanted and was out of there in 20 minutes. All together, we got a griddle, a little toy tent for Kayton to play in, a tool chest with tools in it, a Dremel tool, and his most favorite was a Porter Cable drill, skill saw, jigsaw and light combo set.  It was so easy and I would definitely do black friday shopping again.

For Nate's birthday, he got his presents and then we had Thanksgiving dinner on his birthday and we did birthday pie for him with everybody there.  It was great.  He said he is at that age now where he doesn't care about birthdays, but I think it's still fun to make a big deal of him.  Happy Birthday honey!  I love you so much and think you are a great hubby!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had such a great Thanksgiving and hope everyone else did.  We were invited by some friends, the Pratt's, to come to their house for Thanksgiving this year.  It was perfect and just what we needed.  We left Tuesday night and got there pretty late because Nate needed to be there so he could go to the school the next day to see some teachers and get some observation hours in.  He had a good time and can't wait until he starts teaching for real.  We really didn't get around to doing much while we were there.  I was too excited to do my first ever Black Friday shopping so I was on the computer looking for deals as much as I could and Kayton was having fun playing with the boys and we felt like we were really on vacation.  So relaxing.  For Thanksgiving, we had dinner and stuff on Friday instead of Thursday because their aunt and uncle were coming into town later that day and we wanted to have dinner all together.
What we woke up to on Thanksgiving morning
So on Thanksgiving we went and visited Nate's Mom and Dad and Kayton is going through the clingy stages so they didn't get to hold him very much but they loved to see him.  There wasn't much else that we did.  We weren't able to see very many other people while we were there and it was ok.  Kayton had so much fun playing in a new house with lots of people that gave him so much attention.  The Pratt's have a dog and they both loved playing together and Kayton would let the dog lick his mouth and rough house with him a little bit and he had no problems with it.  It was so cute and now I really want to get him a puppy.  Well, Friday came and we had our Thanksgiving dinner!  It was so delicious and I felt special since I helped make the potatoes.  Whoo hoo.  Of course we all ate too much and I felt especially sick afterward for some reason  but it was ok by me.  It was Kayton's first Thanksgiving and he loved eating the food in his little chair and we loved sharing that with the Pratt's.  Thank you so much Pratt's.  We love you and don't know what we would do without your amazing family.

This boy and this dog were so cute!  He totally let her lick his mouth.

The 1st Snow

In honor of this being my 200th post, I went with our first snow storm that we had here this weekend.  We were able to do some clothes shopping this weekend and since we knew the snow was coming, we got Kayton a snow suit.  It's so cute!  Well, I knew he would love some outside time so I got him all bundled up and we went outside.  He had such a hard time moving in his outfit, but he did good with crawling.  He loved it and hopefully it will snow again soon so he can play more.

Bad mommy award goes to me

So the other day, Nate and I were coming home from going to eat lunch at the cafeteria and Nate thought it would be cool to do some wheelies on his bike.  He did really good with them until he went and little too far and kind of fell off the bike.  Well in doing this, his chain came off his back tire so when we got it home, he had to turn the bike upside down so that he could fix it.  Well, Kayton was crawling around on the ground and without either of us really thinking, Kayton crawled over to the bike as the wheels were spinning really fast and his head got scratched from the tire.  I knew it would hurt and it didn't even process in my head that it would get him.  Thankfully Nate was able to catch him before it got worse.

Happy Birthday to Me

My birthday was on the 18th and it was one of the best birthdays I had in a long time.  Last year I was pregnant and got a UTI on my birthday, not fun, but this year was great.  Nate came in and woke me up at like 7 and as I was still trying to wake up he brings me out to the living room and says he has something to show me.  He had taken some of my oreo cookies and stacked them up on a little plate to look like a cake and since we didn't have candles, he made one out of a q-tip and lit it and sang happy birthday to me.  I loved it.  It was so sweet of him.  Then, he had to go off to work, so I just stayed home and relaxed and cleaned house.  The rest of the day went about as normal and then we had cake and ice cream with a bunch of our friends that night.

Then, my birthday dragged on the whole weekend because Nate's payday was the next day and we kind of needed that before we could go shopping so on Friday, I got to go clothes shopping with my friend Kimbi and then Nate and I went and did a little more random shopping on Saturday.  It was so fun shopping and I got all kinds of things I wanted including a new haircut!  It has been so long and I found a cut that I love and will hopefully keep for a long time.  It was a great birthday and a big shout out goes to my hubby Nate!

Playing with the ball

Kayton sometimes has to come to mutual with me and last week he played around with a volleyball and loved it.  It was awesome we were in such a big room that he crawled around all over and played with the girls when they weren't working on stuff.  It was just too cute.

Kayton's 1st Halloween

We celebrated Halloween yesterday.  It started off with Nate not feeling well at all so we hung out most of the morning and then I took Kayton to a pumpkin patch with our friends so I could get some pictures of Kayton with some pumpkins.  I didn't think to carve a pumpkin this year until it was too late so I just got pictures with them this time.

Last night was our ward Trunk or Treat so since Nate was sick, I took Kayton by myself.  There wasn't too many people that showed up but this year was about Kayton getting the candy and us eating it so it wasn't too big of a deal.  He dressed up as a little lion this year and I just loved it.  Too bad he can't stay this small always.  He had fun though with everyone smiling at him and telling him how cute he was.  We had fun dressing him up.

Happy Halloween!

A True Mormon Mom

I feel like that is what I can call myself now.  As a lot of you may know, we have been through lots of problems with cars lately.  It's a whole ordeal that I don't want to remember anymore, but now that we have Kayton and we know what we really need to be comfortable, we finally broke down and bought a minivan.   We promise that this will be our car probably until it dies.  I am not a fan of minivans, I have always wanted and SUV, but this is very practical and we get good mileage when we go on trips, so it will be good for our family. It's a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country and it has a lot of little mechanical upgrades that I wasn't expecting.  It definitely is much more comfortable to ride in and it should last us a long time.
