2015 Pioneer Day Weekend

Pioneer Day is a big deal here. It also is the same weekend of Merrick's birthday so we always have a lot of things to do for his birthday. Thursday night, we had a family dinner in Pinedale where the boy cousins just played and played and I enjoyed some time with my sisters.
We started the next day over in Snowflake at a parade.  Nate was asked to play in a float so we went to the house where my stepsisters stay and sat with them for the parade with all the cousins.

Merrick 4th Birthday

This crazy baby of mine is 4 years old.  I am having a hard time with it.  He is getting so big and is trying to be so independent.  He is my little helper while I make dinner, loves playing with his stuffed animals like they are alive, and loves to read books with me.  He is getting ready to start his 2nd year of preschool and thinks its fun to tell people he is 4 years old and hold his fingers up.  A few days after his birthday, he keeps asking to make sure he is still 4 years old.  I don't know what we would do without this boy in our lives.  He is so sweet and happy and fun to play with.
We threw a little birthday party for him with a few friends and family.  We ate hot dogs, cake, ice cream and he got a little spoiled by everyone.
We got to play with friends during the party
Mom and Dad got him a Spiderman sccooter
Presents!!
He picked a Spiderman cupcake cake
Yay for friends.

Show Low History Museum

While my sister and her family were in town, they wanted to go check out the Show Low History Museum and invited us to go along with them.  In all these years of living here, we have never gone.  It was actually really fun.  There were a lot of things that people donated like organs, quilts, old stoves and fireplaces.  Just so many things that make up Show Low.  There was a room about the Rodeo-Chediski fire, and a room just for the trains.  They set up as much of the railroad towns as they could but unfortunately the trains were not running that day.  In the main room, they had an old phone switchboard that they used for the county a long time ago which I thought was pretty awesome.  Back in the corner though, they had an old single jail cell that Kayton thought was fun to get stuck in there.
The boys loved it and it's more fun if you get to go with your cousins.
This list was a really fun find.  It's a list of people who served in Vietnam war from Show Low and while we were reading it, we found Nate's Dad, Barney Adams.  We have a few pictures of him in this army uniform and the flag from his funeral in our house so it was really fun to see someone else honoring him.
After the museum, we got to have lunch together and just go play at our house.  We love the Howden family!

Papa came and played

My Dad has been driving a lot and has been taking time to stop and see us for a little bit.  This time we got to play at the park with him and go out for Mexican. We love when he comes to see us.

4th of July 2015

4th of July is one of my favorite holidays here.  I always love the parade and the boys love trying to catch the candy.
Cute matching boys

We found the best benefit of living where we do is that we can walk down to the schools to watch the fireworks and not deal with all the traffic.  The boys keep get better every year with the noises and they think that fireworks are probably the coolest thing ever.

Monkey Bars

Kayton has worked long and hard to be able to do the monkey bars and tonight he did it all by himself.  At least the ones at this park.  He was so proud and we can't believe how big he is getting.  He's a lot like me when it comes to monkey bars.
