8 years

Yup, we have made it 8 years of marriage.  Thanks to my amazing friend who kept the kids all afternoon we were able to celebrate by going to do sealings at the temple, going to dinner, going to a movie (Pitch Perfect 2 - it was aca-awesome and ssooooooo hilarious), and then we went to dinner at Grumpy Jake's BBQ.  With all of the crazy around here and us not really knowing where our lives are headed right now, it was so nice to be with each other and celebrating happy things.

I love him!

Father's and Sons camping

It's annual Father's and Sons campout weekend.  They decided to actually camp out, but unfortunately it was a cold and rainy weekend so they didn't actually spend the night.  They just went out for dinner and got rained on then came home.
Heading out
When they came home, Nate set up a little tent for them to sleep in to try and keep the camping spirit alive.  I went out to watch a movie with my mom and sister and Nate texted me this picture.  I love it when they have guy nights together.
With Nate being in Elders Quorum presidency, they were in charge of making breakfast the next morning, so he and Kayton got up and went to cook breakfast burritos for everyone.  Merrick wanted to stay home and eat cereal with me so Nate let him.
I can't wait for them to be able to go again next year and maybe actually get to camp out.  They boys always get excited for camping.

Nate's Final Concert

Tonight was Nate's end of the year concert for all the Junior high.  For us though, it was bittersweet because it was also Nate's final concert for teaching.  We have decided that it is time for us to find a new job career and so Nate has turned in his resignation.  We don't know what is next or have any set plans, we just know that if we want to keep growing our family, we need a job that pays a little more. He is a great and wonderful teacher and all the kids are going to miss him and we are going to miss some of the friends and teachers that he has gotten to work with.
The concert was a success!
His last concert on this stage
We love to support Daddy!

Mother's Day

It comes around every year and this year was great.  I woke to hugs and kisses then Nate got up and made me breakfast.  Heart shaped french toast!  It was so yummy.  We got ready and went to church and I got to play the piano so the kids could sing their Mother's Day song.  I got some cute pictures with my boys after church was over and all kinds of cute little cards and treats.  My favorite was the big card the boys made me and special artwork from Kayton that he made at school.
After church, we stopped by to say hi to Nate's mom and give her the cared the boys made.
That afternoon, the Pratt's son Trevor had his mission farewell so we went to that at the church and then we went to their house for dinner and a little party.  We love their family a lot and were glad we got to spend mother's day with them.  It was a long and wonderful day and I loved all of it.

My Morning Walk

With both boys in school in the morning, I have discovered that I love going on walks by myself.  I found a few great trails and go on walks that are about a mile.  Some days I would be feeling really down and don't know how I would get through the day somewhat happy. On those days, I would just keep walking.  Another mile or two maybe.  It's amazing relief and I always feel better after.

Kindergarten Preview Day

Today, Kayton's preschool took the kids who will be in Kindergarten for a trip to their new schools.  We went to the Linden classroom where the teacher Mrs. Sherman had a special activity planned for them.  He got to learn about plants and colored a picture with the other kids.   He loved every minute of feeling like he was in Kindergarten.  He is too excited for next year.

After he was done in the classroom, we decided to stay later and have lunch with Daddy at his school.  We got to eat cafeteria food and then Kayton got to go out and play with the kids for recess.  It was a fun day for him and I feel a little bitter sweet about Kayton going to Kindergarten next year.

Southwest Cajun Festival

Nate's and his friend Mike got to go to a boys weekend together.  They found out about a Southwest Cajun Festival that was in the valley.  They were excited about the food, but the main thing was a jazz band that was one of the main performers of the day, the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.  I was a little jealous that he got to go down and have so much fun.  He needed it and I was glad he had fun.

These are all the pictures he sent me while he was there.
