So Great!

Wow, what a weekend it was. We kindof went around like a chicken with its head chopped off a little bit, but it came together. Nate's Junior Recital started at 2 oclock that day and we still had to get a few last minute things together. So we got up and cleaned the house and then went to the store and about the time we got done there, my daddy called and said that he was almost here so we went home and then he pulled in and he brought a surprise friend with him....my Granny. We were so glad they both came and appreciate their support so much. They got there around 12 oclock and they wanted to take us out to lunch so I told them about this great restaurant that only I had been to and it's really good. So we went and had lunch and then Nate had to be to the school at 1 oclock for setting up the stage and warming up too so he went to the school and I went with my dad to the store again. We had already gotten donouts and punch and things to have after the recital and then I was going to make some cookies at home. Well, the cookies turned out good but I put them in the oven and then got in the shower a few minutes later and forgot to remind Nate they needed to be taken out of the oven. Well I got out and could smell them burning so the cookies were no good so we went to the store to get some cookies and then we had everything that we needed. I can say this weekend was awesome, but not cheap. Thanks to dad, he bought the cookies and we were off to home so I could mix the punch and grab everything else. We headed over there and set up everything, wished Nate good luck and then listened. He played awesome and we are sure he passed just fine. After it was over, there was another recital that alot of people, including Nate, had to be to right after so we had a few people eat food and drink the punch and then they were off. Me and dad and Granny packed up and then they headed back over the mountain and I headed back home to relax and clean up a little bit more.
Later that night was the final semester band concert and it went really good too. Im sure Nate's lips were hurting after almost 2 hours of playing his tuba that day. We were glad it was over but Nate did amazing. I recorded the concert and recital on my video camera but only got one song from Nate's recital on my camera which I am going to attempt to post on here.
Other than that main event, we are doing good. We are still waiting to hear back from the jobs I applied for in Flagstaff and hoping something happens soon so we can move down when we want to. We are relying on faith and prayers right now. Anyways, sorry it was such a long post. Here are some pictures of the recitals.

I Don't Think We're in Arizona Anymore

Well, we keep track of the weather just like anyone else and we were told we were suppose to get snow last night and they usually are wrong but this time, they were right. We woke up this morning with a little snow on our yard and the snow is still falling and right now, its 27 degrees outside. I don't remember the last time, if ever, that I saw snow in April. I was getting so excited for the warm weather too. Here are a few pictures outside of my office.

Wise you would be to attend!!!

So there is the announcement to all. Nate is having his junior recital this weekend. He has to play 30 minutes worth of music for a big part of his grade that will allow him to graduate. This is the bulletin he put around the school but the picture was a little different but same idea. Our dad and mom and family from Durango will be coming over for the recital which we are so excited about. We are so proud of him and he has done so well this year and we know he will do good this weekend and will pass just fine. The other tough part of the weekend though is that right after his recital, he is performing on another student's senior recital and then he is also playing on a band concert that night too. Saturday will definately be a musical day for us.

Other than that exciting and stressful event I am going to be helping out a flute player on her senior recital tomorrow night. I decided last semester that I would be in a flute choir with a couple of girls from the school and we will be playing on a chamber recital next month and we are also performing the quartet on her senior recital tomorrow night. Im excited but at the same time afraid Im going to mess up because I don't play as much as these other girls.

We are slowly but surely getting ourselves together for moving. I applied for like 6 jobs at NAU so that Nate can get a discount on tuition and then we can afford to live there and finish school there. The one job I really want is suppose to let start reviewing applications today so I am hoping and praying that they like my resume.

Other than that, we are just loving the warmer weather and are also feeling grateful to have our water system cleaned so we can now use our water again. YAY! I never thought I would be excited to be able to wash dishes and clean my house really good for the first time in about 3 weeks. We have now learned the importance of having food storage in cases of times like this.

We are also preparing for my brother to leave on his mission to Spain on May 21st and we hope we will be able to make it down for the farewell. Right now it doesn't look like we will be able to but I really really hope something changes so we can go. He's my second brother to leave and I missed the first one so I really want to attend this one. But since we will be living closer, I will hopefully be able to see that whole side of the family more often.

Well, I hope this next month or so goes by decently fast and that all works out for us.

April Newsletter

This month was a lot of fun for us. We had a lot of trips we went on and many other stressful events, so it seemed like a very long month. The best part was our spring break trip we took to Arizona.
We started out in Flagstaff where we stayed at our friends’ house. They live in one of the apartment complexes on the NAU campus. We got to see the main parts of campus and the apartments we will probably be living in. Nate was also able to do his audition for the school of music while we were there. He passed with flying colors and was accepted right on the spot. Now, we are just waiting to see how much scholarship money they can offer him. He was also able to play in their tuba ensemble as a guest player one of the nights we were there and enjoyed doing that. We then left Flagstaff late Monday night and headed down to Mesa where we went to see some friends and do a little shopping. (Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for the use of your house) We were able to see our old friend Sam and our cousin Rachelle and our old seminary teacher, Bro. Hoefling and his family. We stayed longer than we planned on, but we had a lot of fun and decided it wouldn’t be too bad if we did live down there sometime in the future. Then the last stop on our Arizona trip was Show Low. When we got into town we went straight out to Mom’s house and had dinner with the family there. We stayed out there for a good part of the night and had a lot of fun playing around and enjoyed seeing everyone.
The next few days we were able to go visit Nate’s mom and see her new apartment, which was really nice, and also his brother and sister. They are all doing well and we are trying to convince his brother to move to Flagstaff so we can try to find him a girlfriend and let him see more of the world. One of the other things Nate always likes to do when we are in Show Low is go to the high school and play with the band and see the band director who has always been one of his greatest role models and one of our good friends. The next day we unwillingly drove back to Colorado. The whole trip was so much fun, so relaxing, but we are also glad not to be in the car anymore.
Now that we are home, Nate went to Texas with the jazz band to play at the North Texas Jazz Festival. Nate and the rest of the jazz band had an awesome experience listening to 3 of the world’s best jazz bands. The jazz band also auditioned for a spot in the final concert that Friday night. They didn‘t get it but were super close (next in line). He has also spent a lot of nights at rehearsals for his own recital that he has coming up in two weeks as well as other recitals he is helping out with. I’m excited for the summer when I will hopefully be able to see him more often. I have also started looking for a job in Flagstaff and applying for what I can online. We learned that students having a spouse working on campus get a very, very, very good discount on tuition so I have applied for many jobs so far and we hope one of them will go through. The only other crazy thing we have had happen here is that we have been under a water advisory for about 3 weeks. People in town were getting sick with salmonella and they believe that it was coming from the city water system. So they have been flushing out the water system with chlorine and we have been using bottled water for everything you can think of and have been going to a friends house (who are on a well) to showered and do laundry there. The city supplied us with mostly all the water we have for free. The church has also been sending water down here from Salt Lake to help out. Many members have been helping pass out water to those in need. The city has worked rather quickly to get this resolved and we are starting to be able to use our water again. As of right now, we can use our water for everything except for drinking, cooking, and washing our dishes. All the schools, including the college, were closed for about a week.
Other than that, we are just getting things together so that we can move soon after the semester is over. We love you and miss you all very much.

This Made My Day

Well, last night, Nate left to go to Texas for a jazz band festival and conference where the Adams State College jazz band was chosen to play at and so he left last night really late and I am not very good at being apart from him for very long so I got to work today and at about 11 oclock a lady came to my work and delivered this whole display of things for me. I got a dozen roses, a box of fudge and a teddy bear named Peaches which is Nate's nickname to comfort me while he was gone. I can't believe what a wonderful man I am married to. He is always trying to make me be a better person and loves me for me and I know he would do anything for me. I can't believe our 1 year anniversary is coming up soon. Its been a wonderful year and Im so happy that I am married to him and feel so blessed to have him in my life. Thank you so much honey. I love you so much.
